Malcolm! Terms of Service

Malcolm! is a Discord bot run by Body Doubling LLC ("we"). By adding Malcolm! to a server or using his commands, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. You also need to follow Discord's Terms of Service.

For servers

Malcolm! costs $20 per server per month, and the first month is free. Rooms and join alerts work once we switch your server on.
You can stop at any time. When a subscription ends, rooms and join alerts stop working, and your setup is kept in case you come back.
Server admins decide which roles unlock which perks, and are responsible for how their server uses Malcolm!.

Private rooms

Each member can have one open room per server.
A room that goes unused for 2 weeks is closed, with a warning a few days before.
If the owner loses the role that gives them a room, the room closes after 3 days.
Closing a room deletes its Discord channel, including any messages in it. Keep anything important somewhere else.

Join alerts

Join alerts are for people who want to know when a friend or study partner is around, with that person's agreement. Don't use them, or ask for them repeatedly, to pressure, follow or harass anyone.

Fair use

Don't try to break, overload or get around Malcolm!'s limits, and don't use him for anything that breaks the law or Discord's rules. We may turn off Malcolm! for a member or a server that does.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep Malcolm! running, but he is provided as he is. He can be offline for short periods, for example during updates, and a join alert can arrive late or not at all. Don't rely on him for anything urgent or for anyone's safety.

As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect losses from using Malcolm!, and our total responsibility is limited to what your server paid us in the 3 months before the problem.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and tell servers that use Malcolm! about any important change. Using Malcolm! after a change means you accept it.
